This classy white, sweet wine has drawn remarks ranging from “exquisite at a 2006 tasting, to “shows great potential.” The color has been described from “medium-deep yellow-gold amber to medium yellow straw color.” Tasters pointed to; “clear oak on the nose,” “spicy whte/yellow fruit” and “a mild nose of botrytis and apricots.” In all a pleasantly sweet wine with a moderate to long finish. Acidity was seen as lacking in a 2005 tasting, but just a year earlier an experienced taster referred to a “nice beam of acid right up the middle.” Acidity is a key to the longevity of a wine, so whether this is a delightful wine for after-dinner now, or one to be savored in a few years is a decision for your individual palate. The bottom line, according to a taster who gave it a 93 point rating was: “…a day with d’Yquem is a very good day.”
